Besides serving others this semester, I have been trying to catch up with my many friends that I have lost touch with.
One woman I know from back home is Robin Leach (or Robin Klinger). Our families have been in the same ward it seems like forever. I didn't really get to know her because she was older than I was (I think she may have been in the primary class my mom taught when I was a toddler and the favorite play thing of the class), but we know of each other. Recently I was reading her posts on facebook and I noticed that her son, Manoah, was really sick. I didn't know how sick and I was nervous to ask. After a few inquiries I stumbled upon a blog that she had set up for her son to set down the journey that he is taking. Here is the link for those who know the Klingers and their daughter, Robin. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/manoah. He has been through so much but he is such a marvelous little boy!
Another person, who is featured in a Mormon Messages video, was brought to my attention recently. My brother-in-law, Aaron, told me about her blog. He has been reading it from the first post to the most current entry. She was involved in a plane crash with her husband and was badly burned. Every normal thing that we take for granted, like picking up our kids, doing the dishes, doing laundry, etc, is a challenge. Even though she has gone through alot, she is still hanging on. She still has her faith and her testimony and her family. I don't know if any of us could say the same thing if we were in her place. Here is her blog (from the first entry): http://nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2005-05-14T01%3A00%3A00-07%3A00
These are just two extraordinary people that have been faced with difficult struggles. Their stories are different and in various stages but they are inspiring.

Comfort from the temple
Today was Friday (AKA Temple day). I volunteer in the Rexburg Temple Baptistry for 4 hours every week. I had missed my shift the past two weeks and was a little bit nervous to go back to the temple. This semester has been tough. I was suspended from school, which before my appeal would have meant that I would have been dropped from BYUI and I would have had to stay out for a year and get 12 credits at a different college. Since my appeal was granted, I can return in the Fall, but I'm still suspended this semester. Since I can't take classes, I can't work on campus. I have no job, no classes, and I feel like a failure. I had prayed to have my second appeal granted so I could keep the classes I was registered for...but the committee said no. I was so distraught. I couldn't understand why I couldn't try again. But I've been thinking lately that maybe this time is for me to figure out what I really want. Since I've been married, I've kind of lost sight of what I want out of my college experience. I don't know if I really want to be a teacher anymore. I don't know what my talents are or really anything about myself. It's been hard, but I've accepted that this extra 'break' is for me to figure out or rediscover why it is that I want to be a teacher, if I can do it, and what it means to be me. I've attended many conferences given on campus recently and, even though the subject of their lectures varied, they have each given me a piece of the puzzle.
Going to the temple today, serving the patrons there, and really studying my patriarchal blessing have helped me set my feet on the path that I need to take, the road of self-discovery. I don't know where it will go, where I'll end up, but I know it will be in the right place, at the right time.
I haven't found a job yet, though I have been giving service to others multiple times a week. I really should find one soon though. Tyler and I want to go to the Phillipines over one of the breaks that we have from school so he can go see the people that he served on his mission. It will definitely be an interesting experience for me since even in Egypt they still had toilets (even if we did have to bring our own toilet paper).

Missed events and baby birds
So...it's been a really long time since we've updated our blog, but recently I had this idea to make a blog about family history and how to do it. Tyler and I were called to be Family History Teachers in our ward and I've subsequently caught the FH (Family History) Bug. In the process of creating this FH blog, I learned how to make a really awesome blog. I couldn't just stop there with the FH blog...I had to update our family blog as well (It was awful looking). So here we are with a new blog and I don't know what to write because I am tired.
My sister, Morgan, graduated recently from High School on May 28, 2010. I was really sad that we couldn't be there. I told myself a while ago that I was going to be there, but finances, Tyler's schooling, and the car didn't agree with me.
Tyler's best friend, Jacob Hunt, was married the same day...we, again, couldn't be there.
This day was also the day that two awful, EVIL crows came and attacked the bird's nest above our door. About two months ago, a pair of robins came and built a nest in the exposed rafters above our door. A few weeks later Tyler peeked in the nest and saw two robins blue egg. We were so excited for the babies to hatch, even though it might have curtailed our activities outside our apartment. We were expected the parents to dive bomb us once the birds hatched. This day, May 28, it was raining and the crows were out hunting for worms. They must have seen the two robins flying in and out of the rafters. All of a sudden I hear this Metallic grinding noise. I thought that one of the rafters had broken loose, but no...that was too good to be true. The crows were at the nest (the parents were frightened off) and they had picked up one of the babies. I tried to scare them off. They dropped the baby in the insulation (probably would have been painful). I couldn't get the step ladder in time to save the baby. It knocked itself off the ledge and fell over 6 feet to the concrete. It died. I called an Animal hospital to see if there was anything I could do. They tried to help but advised me to call Fish and Game next time (even though it was a small animal hospital). I tried to put the baby back up in the nest but just succeeded in putting it on the ledge in front of the nest. Eventually the parents came back, but the crows attacked again. I think they must have taken the other baby, because the parents abandoned the nest. Now I hate crows with a passion.
